Passion and Patience - A Wine Story
There are plenty of books out there explaining the processes involved in making wine, but to my knowledge there has not been a video or DVD that has been made to explain to the interested public, the intricacies of the process and the decisions that have to be made to produce wine in the glass. Not until ‘Passion and Patience’, a 60 minute DVD made by winemaker Shane Cox of Corazon Wines and directed by Ben Naden, that does just that.
Shane fronts the video and gives us an enthusiastic journey from vine to glass. Included is the grafting of new vines, the seasonal tasks in the vineyard as well as the many and varied tasks in the winery. He provides just enough detail to both intrigue and inform and does it in a way that is casual yet authoritative.
The production is professional but avoids the corporate slickness that often tends to dilute the genuine nature of the message and the whole experience has a very genuine ‘kiwi’ feel to it.
It can be bought on-line at passionandpatience.co.nz. Well worth the $20 price tag.
